A 4 match test series will be played under the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Even if Australia loses 0-3 in this series, they will still reach the final. However, in the 0-4 loss, they will have to rely on other teams’ games. At the same time, if the Indian team wins this series 3-1, they will also reach the final. Sri Lanka have to play a two match test series in New Zealand. Sri Lanka is currently in third position (53.33%) in the WTC points table. If the Indian team cannot achieve the desired result (3-1) against Australia, then they will have to hope that the Sri Lankan team does not win the New Zealand test series by any means. Should they lose the Test series to Australia, India will also have to wait for Sri Lanka’s defeat in New Zealand.
The South African team will host a two-match Test series against the West Indies. South Africa occupies the fourth position (48.72%) in the WTC points table. If the Indian team cannot record a 3-1 win against Australia, then they will have to hope that the outcome of the South Africa and West Indies series goes in their favour. That is, either it becomes a draw or the West Indies win it 1-0.
