How to see if apps are spying on you on Android and iPhone

The concern with the permissions that we give to the applications that we have installed on the smartphone is growing. It is no coincidence that the latest presentations by Google or Apple have some focus on privacy. But how can we know if applications are spying on us?

Whenever you install an app on your smartphone, you are immediately prompted to grant permissions for microphone, location, camera, contacts, or notifications. But not all permissions make sense.

In this article I leave you the easiest way to see which applications are accessing things that are often unnecessary. If you suspect that an app is spying on you, you can check this information in Settings. Here’s how to do it on iOS and Android.

How to see if someone is spying on you on iPhone

On your iPhone, you can verify this information through your Apple device’s settings. To do this, simply go to “Settings”, click on “Privacy and security”, and then select “Report app privacy”.

There you can see, in detail, the log of access to data and sensors, network activity of applications and websites. It may happen that you do not have this report activated, which is something you will need to do next in order to access this data in the future.

How to see if someone is spying on you on Android

If you have an Android smartphone, the process is similar. Just go to your device settings and choose the Security and privacy option. There you must click on “Privacy” and then on “See all permissions”. A Nothing Phone (2) was used as an example. But you should have a similar experience on other devices.

This is the easiest way to see if an app is spying on you. If you want this to stop happening, simply deactivate the permissions that you think are unnecessary in each of these applications.
