How to get Saudi citizenship? A major change in the law

Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz amended the Saudi citizenship law.

According to the report, the authority to grant citizenship in Saudi Arabia has been given to the Crown Prince and the Prime Minister. After the amendment, the decision to grant citizenship will be made by the Prime Minister instead of the Interior Minister, but it will be recommended by the Interior Minister.

The crown prince will decide whether to grant citizenship to any person or not. If the father is a foreigner and the mother is Saudi, then their child can be granted citizenship if certain conditions are fulfilled.

Children of Saudi mothers and foreign fathers will be granted Saudi citizenship if they meet the conditions. Requirements include speaking fluent Arabic, legal age, permanent residency in Saudi Arabia and good character.

The conditions said to be a permanent resident of the kingdom from birth to the age of majority, to be of good character, to know the Arabic language well and to apply for citizenship the year after reaching the age of majority.
