You will also see a button to submit the last location, which is another useful feature you should turn on. This will send your device’s last known location to Apple if the battery is low.

After activating the Search option, you will see a message the next time you turn off your device. This simply reminds you that your device can still be found even when it’s turned off.

Find your iPhone on another iOS device

If you have another Apple mobile device, such as an iPad, you can use the Find My app to locate your lost iPhone. Or if you share your location with a family member, they can help you locate your iPhone with Find My on their devices.

For this example, we’ll use an iPad mini. We open the Find me app and click on “Devices” in the small box at the bottom. There is a list of devices to choose from, as well as their current locations on the map.

The Find app is also on macOS, so you can find your iPhone if you also have a Mac.

Open Find My app on your Mac and click the Devices tab in the upper left corner. You will see a list of your devices and your current location on the map.

Select your iPhone to see your place on the map, then you can perform the same actions as on your iPad: play a sound on your iPhone, get directions to it, or mark it as lost.
