How to delete temporary files in Windows 10

Windows temporary files, as the name suggests, are temporary files created by certain programs when they are used.

These files can quickly accumulate and consume some of your valuable storage space, so you may want to delete them.

Also, deleting temporary files can be a good way to improve your PC’s performance if it’s a bit slow.

Delete temporary files with Disk Cleanup

Disk Cleanup is a Windows 10 program that lets you quickly delete files you no longer need, including temporary files.

To start Disk Cleanup, type “Disk Cleanup” into the Windows search bar and click on the “Disk Cleanup” application in the search results.

 

The Disk Cleanup for Windows (C 🙂 window opens. Check the box next to each temporary file type you want to delete and click “OK.”

 

A message will appear asking you to confirm that you want to delete the selected files. Click on “Delete files.”

 

The system will start deleting the selected temporary files.

Delete temporary files from the settings application

You can also delete temporary files from the Settings app. First, open the Settings app by clicking the Windows icon in the lower left corner of the desktop to open the Start menu and clicking the gear icon.

 

The Settings window will open. Here, click on the “System” option.

 

Then click on “Storage” in the left pane.

 

On the next screen, click on “Temporary Files” in the Windows group (C :).

 

A list of what the system considers temporary files will appear. Check the box next to the files you want to delete and click “Remove files.”

Windows 10 will start deleting temporary files.
