How much prize money does Medvedev take for winning the US Open?

Daniil Medvedev is a US Open champion for the first time in his life and that not only places him in a prominent place in tennis history, he is only the third Russian to win a Grand Slam, too. It will bring you a succulent financial prize, the largest portion of the 57.5 million dollars (48.6 euros), distributed by the tournament.

Medvedev, who defeated Djokovic in the final (triple 6-4), will cash a check for 2.5 million dollars (2.1 euros), the same as Britain’s Emma Raducanu, the women’s champion. It is half a million less than what Austria’s Dominic Thiem and Japan’s Naomi Osaka took last year.

For their part, Djokovic and the Canadian Leylah Fernández, runners-up, will pocket 1,250,000 dollars (just over one euro). As for the best Spaniard of the appointment, Carlos Alcaraz, the quarterfinals reached will mean 425,000 (about 360,000 euros) more dollars to his account. Garbiñe Muguruza, the best of the national tennis players, will earn 265,000 (224,000 euros) to reach the eighth. Although this year’s jackpot represents the historical record of the event, the increase has been mainly used to better reward the tennis players of the previous phase, who have collectively collected 66% more than in 2019.
