The Minister of Housing and Buildings, Carlos Bonilla, reported that the investments made in the construction sector between January and June of this year represented 15% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) during that period.
"It is important to note that the construction sector has had a great post-pandemic recovery and is one of the sectors that is driving the country’s progress. Between January and June 2022 it represented 15% of GDP. Today we support you so that you can continue promoting the progress of our people”, indicated the head of the Ministry of Housing and Buildings (Mived), during an act where the Single Window for Construction system was presented, which will facilitate the bureaucratic process to the sector in this kind of permits.
The Single Window
The authorities defined the "Construction Single Window" how an integrated system that modernizes the processing and obtaining of licenses and permits for the benefit of the construction sector; in order to streamline and facilitate, in a single place, the necessary accreditations for the development of works.
“We want to improve the lives of Dominicans and, to achieve this, we must provide solutions to the construction sector so that, in turn, it can respond more effectively to our people and so that it continues to generate jobs as it has done steadily in the last few years,” added Bonilla.
The activity was led by Vice President Raquel Peña, who stressed that these types of projects "are possible, thanks to the disposition of President Luis Abinader’.
"We must make use of all the elements within our reach to maximize our impact and create an efficient government. This idea, which is a reality today, supposes a vision of what is public, of the government, and of the policies that we develop. With these solutions, the Ministry of Housing and Buildings gives a new face to the sector, and reaffirms its commitment to transparency and efficiency”, said Peña when pronouncing the main words of the act.
