Honor, a brand that branched off from Huawei in 2020 to really make its mark globally, has set a date. They plan to unveil their newest tough mid-range smartphone, the Honor X9d. The official launch is happening on September 24, 2025, in Malaysia, starting at 3:00 PM. Along with the announcement, Honor also shared a sneak peek highlighting some of the phone’s best features.
The X9d looks a lot like the Honor X70, based on images from the teaser. It boasts an impressive IP69K rating for water and dust resistance. This means the phone is fully protected from dust coming from any direction. It can also stand up to high-pressure water, even at temperatures up to 80 degrees Celsius. The brand also made sure the X9d has a special structure inside. This design helps it handle drops and impacts much better than most other smartphones. Honor claims this makes the X9d the toughest phone in their X series line-up.
You can grab the X9d in two distinct colors. There’s a familiar Reddish Brown, just like the X70. Plus, Honor is introducing a brand new shade called Sunlight Gold, adding a fresh look to the lineup.
When it comes to snapping photos, the X9d gets a major upgrade. The main camera now features a sharp 108-megapixel sensor. It also includes Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), which is a big deal for clearer shots. This feature especially helps when you’re taking pictures in dim light, making them look much better.

Another standout feature is the battery. The X9d packs a massive 8,300 mAh Silicon-Carbon battery. Honor proudly states this is the largest battery found in any mid-range smartphone available today. It’s designed to give users enough power to last through a full day of heavy use without needing a recharge.

With its super tough build, a powerful camera, and a battery that just keeps going, the Honor X9d is shaping up to be a very interesting option. It aims to be a strong choice for anyone looking for a durable mid-range smartphone that won’t quit.
A Quick Look Back: The Honor X70
For some context, the Honor X70 made its debut earlier, launching in China in July 2025. That model came with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 chipset, running at 2.3 GHz. It featured a smooth 120 Hz AMOLED display and a 50-megapixel main camera. The X70 also included impressive water and dust resistance, with IP66, IP68, and IP69K ratings. Its battery was also quite substantial, offering 8,300 mAh. The starting price for the X70 was 1,399 Yuan.
