Honor is getting ready to launch its Magic8 smartphone series. These new phones will arrive in mid-October 2025. They will feature a brand new image processing technology developed by Honor. The company just trademarked this tech under the name ‘NoxGod.’
Li Kun, Honor’s product manager for flagship smartphones, posted details on Weibo. This is a major social media platform in China. He explained that NoxGod will make night photos much better. This improvement targets the 200-megapixel telephoto camera found in the Magic8 series. The name ‘Nox’ itself comes from the ancient Roman god of night. This fits well with technology designed for low-light situations.
Honor’s executive did not say which specific Magic8 model will have the 200-megapixel zoom camera. However, international news outlets expect the Magic8 Ultra to be one of them.
Previous reports have shared some specifications for all four Honor Magic8 models.
Honor Magic8 Ultra
- This phone will use a specially tuned 200-megapixel image sensor from OmniVision.
- It marks a first for the Magic series, introducing an “Ultra” level smartphone.
Honor Magic8 Pro
- The Pro version also features a 200-megapixel periscope zoom camera.
- It will have a 50-megapixel main camera.
- A 50-megapixel ultrawide camera completes the setup.
- This model will run on Qualcomm’s upcoming top chip, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
Honor Magic8 Standard Model
- This standard version comes with a 6.59-inch screen.
Honor Magic8 Mini
- The Mini model will offer a compact 6.3-inch screen.
- It will be powered by MediaTek’s next top-tier chip, the Dimensity 9500.
- This is the first “Mini” smartphone in the Magic series.
The Honor Magic8 series is also expected to include a Direct Time-of-Flight (dToF) sensor. This sensor helps gather more depth information for photos. This means portrait mode pictures should have a more noticeable three-dimensional look.
