The Honor brand returns to the market with two new smartphones: the Magic 3 and the Magic3 Pro. They rely a lot on photography, but Honor doesn’t forget to make attractive products beyond that aspect. In addition, a third ultra premium terminal, Pro +, was launched.
Honor is no longer a branch of Huawei. The brand gained its independence and now navigates the market alone. It must, therefore, find a new identity, to give itself a reason to exist in the eyes of consumers. For this, it has just presented its two new cutting-edge smartphones: the Magic3. so we have Magic3 and Magic 3 Pro. These terminals rely on photography to seduce.
Smartphones are equipped with a huge photographic module that takes up almost the entire back cover. Adopts a round shape and houses four or five sensors depending on the model. Magic3’s ambition is to be among the best cameras on the market thanks to the know-how imported from Huawei. Honor promises ultra-precise portrait mode, a very effective night mode thanks to its own software handling, as well as instant autofocus. We will have to judge from the evidence during our tests. The Magic 3Pro has a 50 megapixel main sensor, a 13 megapixel wide-angle sensor and a 64 megapixel monochrome sensor. The Pro version will also get an X100 digital zoom with the addition of a 64 megapixel Telephoto sensor.
The Honor Magic3 also put on your screen
Additionally, Honor’s Magic3s are equipped a 6.76-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2772 x 1344 pixels and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which has become the norm today. Its peculiarity is that it is curved on both sides at a height of 89 degrees, which is huge. This gives the impression of no borders. Like it or not, for our part we are customers.
design side, this screen is therefore a real advantage, but honor depends on its colors to seduce. Two colors inspired by dawn and dusk are available, one blue and one bronze. The latter adopt an indeterminate texture, but one that looks close to leather, if the look is to be believed. Magic3s will also be available in black and white if you’re more of the classic type.
We also noticed the presence of an IP68 certification (resistance to water and dust) as well as a double punch in the upper left corner of the display (a classic ultra-wide-angle sensor). The honor also promises a Facial unlocking functionality, like Apple, a little more efficient and secure than the facial recognition that already exists on Android.
For the processor, we are in the middle of the range, as Honor made the choice a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC. It is the most powerful on the market today and we have seen it in other premium terminals on the market. No surprises on this side, then. 5G will obviously be there. The battery, in turn, will have a capacity of 4600 mAh, which is promising, but it will above all be compatible with fast charging of 66 Watt wired and 50 Watt wireless.
The Honor Magic3 Pro +, the chef’s surprise
At the end of the conference, Honor unveiled its ultimate smartphone, the Magic3 Pro. It has a more polished design with a black or white ceramic back cover. For its photographic module, it has a 50 megapixel main sensor, a 64 megapixel ultra wide angle, a 64 megapixel telephoto lens and a 64 megapixel monochrome sensor as well. A monstrous setup that promises a lot.
For pricing, Honor fully assumes the high quality positioning of its new products. The Magic3 (8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage) will be sold at 899 euros. Magic 3 Pro (8GB RAM and 256GB storage) will appear in 1099 euros. Finally, Magic3 Pro + will obviously be the most expensive. In its configuration with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of memory, it will be marketed 1499 euros. We currently don’t have a specific release date.
