As promised, Honor held its summer event in China today to showcase its latest products. The star of this event was the Honor Magic V2, which marks the third generation of the brand’s foldable smartphones.
This is an excellent update for this range of Honor products, especially when we consider its elegance. This is currently the slimmest foldable device on the market, surpassing even the sleek Xiaomi MIX Fold 2.
Honor Magic V2 has a body that is only 4.7 mm thick
One of the disadvantages of folding smartphones is their thickness, especially when they are closed. However, the Honor Magic V2 bucks this trend by featuring a body that is only 4.7mm thick when opened.
It is, without a doubt, an impressive figure that surpasses even some conventional smartphones that are currently on the market. When closed, the Honor Magic V2 is 9.9mm thick. It also stands out for its weight of only 231 grams.
Another important milestone in the construction of the Honor Magic V2 is its gearless uniblock hinge. This was achieved thanks to the 3D printed titanium alloy cover developed by Honor itself.
Although this foldable smartphone does not carry any IP certification against water and dust, the brand mentions a P2i coating on all its components. This allows the Magic V2 hardware to be resistant to splashing water.
Honor Magic V2 has a glorious 7.9-inch 120Hz display
Moving on to its specifications, we have to start with its screens. The main one has OLED technology and has a diagonal of 7.92 inches with a resolution of 2156 x 2344 pixels, a variable refresh rate between 1 Hz and 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 1600 nits.
This panel also has a small hole in the center to house a 16 MP resolution camera. Outside we have a 6.43-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2376 x 1060 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a maximum brightness of 2500 nits.
Both screens support a stylus which increases the productivity of all Honor Magic V2 users. An even more useful accessory on your external screen, as it allows the user to take quick notes.
The processor used is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with an overclocked Cortex-X3 core running at 3.36 GHz. We also have 12 GB of RAM accompanied by 256 GB or 512 GB of storage, but its most powerful version has 16 GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
In the photographic section we have a set of three sensors on the back of the Honor Magic V2. Its main sensor is 50 MP with image stabilization, the wide angle also has 50 MP resolution and there is still a 20 MP telephoto lens with 2.5x zoom and OIS.
Also noteworthy for its 5000 mAh battery with fast charging at 66 W. Its software already comes with MagicOS 7.2 based on Android 13.
Finally, note that the Honor Magic V2 will hit Chinese stores from the equivalent of €1,128, while the most powerful version will cost €1,504. We don’t have any information on the global availability of this foldable smartphone yet.
