Hong Kong: A fourth crew member was rescued from sea on Monday after an engineering ship sank in southern Hong Kong earlier this week by a storm. Chinese officials gave this information. The crew member was rescued on Monday morning with the help of a Navy ship and is in a stable condition, according to a statement from Guangdong maritime authorities. The rescue work is still going on. According to local media reports, the recently rescued crew member was part of a 30-man crew aboard the China-registered floating crane Fujiing 001.

The ship broke into two parts due to storm ‘Chaba’

The ship broke into two and sank during the tropical storm ‘Chaba’ on Saturday. The maximum wind speed at that time was 110 kilometers per hour. It took the form of a typhoon before hitting the coast in Guangdong Province and Hong Kong. The accident involving Fujiing 001 occurred approximately 300 kilometers south of Hong Kong. The other 26 crew members are yet to be traced and search and rescue operations are still on. Hong Kong authorities have sent planes and helicopters to aid in the rescue work.

Less chance of survival of other members

However, he said the chances of survival of the other crew members were slim. Eight people were killed when a decorative building structure collapsed from a height of about 40 feet in China’s northern province of Hebei on Saturday, state-run Xinhua news agency reported. Nine people who were sheltering in Hebei’s capital Shijiazhuang were hit by a collapsed structure. The report said that the condition of one person admitted to the hospital is stable.
