Honda Motor is set to gradually restart automobile production at its North American assembly plants, indicating an improvement in the supply of Nexperia chips that had previously disrupted operations.
The move follows recent production halts and adjustments across its regional factories due to the chip shortage.
The company had suspended production at its Mexico plant on October 28. Plants in the United States and Canada had adjusted production schedules since October 27.
By November 18, a Honda spokesperson stated the company had gained some control over production lines. This was achieved through various methods, including finding new parts suppliers.
When asked whether Nexperia had resumed supplying parts to Honda, the spokesperson directed inquiries to Nexperia.
The spokesperson also cautioned that plans for reviving production could change due to ongoing market uncertainty.
