Rs 80 million in cash, 3 kg of gold recovered from Bhopal liquor business property, Rs 10 million hidden in water tank Were gone

According to the Indian News Agency, the Income Tax Department on Thursday raided the house and other properties of Shankar Rai, a major liquor merchant, and seized a total of Rs 80 million in cash and three kilograms of gold.

Interestingly, Rs 10 million of the recovered currency notes were hidden in an underground water tank in a bag.

In this regard, a video has also gone viral on social media showing the staff of the Income Tax Department ironing and drying currency notes with a dryer.

Jabalpur Man Man Sharma, head of the raid team and joint commissioner of the Income Tax Department, said that the Income Tax Department had confiscated Rs 80 million from the Rai family, including Rs 10 million hidden in a water tank. 3 kg of gold was also seized.

According to the Joint Commissioner, the operation started at 6 am last Thursday and the search continued for 39 hours, during which raids were carried out on 10 different properties of Shankar Rai family.

According to Manman Sharma, apart from liquor, the Rai family also runs transport, hotels, bars and petrol pumps.

Apart from being a businessman, Shankar Rai is also a Congress leader and former municipal president, while his brother Kamal Rai is a BJP leader and vice president of the municipality.
