HMD Unveils Touch 4G: Smart Feature Phone with Cloud Apps

HMD Global isn’t slowing down its work on Nokia-branded feature phones. After securing a deal to keep making these simple devices for years, they’ve just launched a new model. It’s called the Touch 4G, and it tries to mix the best of both worlds. This phone bridges the gap between old-school simplicity and modern smart features.

The HMD Touch 4G has a look that reminds me of Nokia’s old Asha series. It’s a clean, modern design. But don’t let its basic appearance fool you. It packs some smart features that run right from cloud-based apps through its browser.

This phone runs on a special operating system called RTOS Touch, which stands for Real-Time Operating System. This allows users to access “cloud phone services.” Simply put, it means you can use various apps directly in the browser. It also comes with a chat app called Express Chat already installed. This app lets you send text messages, videos, and photos. Even better, you can chat with friends who use Android or iOS smartphones through Express Chat.

A Peek at the Specs

The HMD Touch 4G features a 3.2-inch TFT LCD screen. It offers a 320 x 240 pixel (QVGA) resolution. For photos, there’s a 0.3-megapixel selfie camera on the front. On the back, you’ll find a 2-megapixel main camera paired with an LED flash.

Under the hood, the phone uses a Unisoc T127 chipset. This processor can reach speeds of up to 1.0 GHz. It’s supported by 64 MB of RAM and a small 128 MB of internal storage. If you need more room, the phone supports a MicroSD card up to 32 GB.

The device also comes with a 1,950 mAh battery. The phone itself weighs a mere 100 grams. It charges via a modern USB-C port. Its IP52 rating means it can handle some dust and light water splashes. You’ll also find a 3.5mm headphone jack and an FM radio receiver. For connectivity, it has Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi (802.11n). It can even act as a Wi-Fi Hotspot, sharing its internet connection.

Availability and Pricing

HMD has launched the Touch 4G directly on its official website in India. This makes sense, as India is one of the world’s largest feature phone markets. Customers can choose from two colors: Cyan and Dark Blue. The phone is priced at 3,999 Indian Rupees.
