Two South Indian films, Hit 3 and Retro, hit theaters on May 1. The movies got off to a strong start, but their box office numbers dipped on the third day.
Hit 3: A Promising Start
Hit 3 stars Nani, Shrinidhi Shetty, and Adi Shesh. The film raked in ₹21 crore on its opening day. However, its earnings took a hit on the second day, dropping to ₹10.5 crore. On the third day, it collected ₹7.58 crore, bringing its total to ₹39.08 crore. While its numbers have slowed, they remain decent.
Retro: A Slowing Momentum
Retro features Surya and Pooja Hegde. It opened with a solid ₹19.25 crore on May 1. The film’s earnings fell to ₹7.75 crore on the second day. By the third day, it had earned ₹5.71 crore, totaling ₹32.71 crore. Despite a strong start, Retro’s momentum has waned.
- Hit 3: ₹39.08 crore total
- Retro: ₹32.71 crore total
Both films are expected to pick up steam over the weekend. The Hit series has a loyal fan base, and Retro‘s unique premise has generated buzz. Sunday’s numbers will be crucial in determining their overall success.
