The Sheriff made history and became the first Moldovan team to reach the group stage of the Champions League, where they are accompanied by Salzburg and Shakhtar Donetsk, after overcoming the last tie of the qualifying round.
Sheriff Tiraspol, who does not belong to any recognized state and who disputes the Moldavian League, drew goalless in the field of Dinamo Zagreb, whom they had beaten 3-0 in the first leg.
Founded in 1997 by a security company, the Sheriff belongs to the state of Transnistria, not recognized by the international community. He has managed nineteen of the last twenty-three Moldovan Leagues.
He will now be part of the Champions League same as Salzburg, who in Denmark again beat Brondby (1-2), and that the Shakhtar Donetsk Ukrainian, winner of the tie against Monaco after drawing (2-2).
