Identification of Missing Argentine Man Confirmed
A recent development has been made in the case of Franco Toro, the 30-year-old Argentine man who went missing on January 1st while attempting to rescue a woman in distress at El Emir beach in Punta del Este. The Forensic Technical Institute has officially confirmed that the body found in the area of La Olla, Punta del Este, is indeed that of Franco Toro, following a DNA comparison with his relatives.
Circumstances Surrounding the Incident
Franco Toro had traveled to Punta del Este for work and was spending time on the beach on the morning of January 1st. When a woman was swept away by the current towards the rocks, Toro selflessly jumped into the water in an attempt to rescue her. Two other men also entered the water to assist, and while they were rescued by Prefecture personnel, Toro’s fate remained unknown.
