The British magazine The Economist published this week the ranking of the safest cities in the world. And it is a European city that wins the prize.
Developed by its subsidiary The Economist Intelligence Unit, the British magazine published this study, based on 76 indicators in the digital, health, infrastructure, environment and personal safety sectors.
While Tokyo (Japan) held first place in the ranking since 2015, Copenhagen (Denmark) has now been voted the safest city in the world. With the lowest crime rate in the world, this is the first time that the Scandinavian city, 8th two years ago, has obtained this distinction. It is just ahead of Toronto (Canada), followed closely by Singapore.
The Japanese capital, for its part, ranks in fifth place, ahead of its neighbor Osaka which tumbles to seventeenth place.
Fairly far behind, Paris obtains the 23rd place. Finally, it is Yangon, which becomes the least safe city in the world. The Burmese capital was, this year, the scene of demonstrations and violent repressions.
