Portuguese tennis player Henrique Rocha secured his second career ATP Challenger title on Sunday, defeating Japan’s Sho Shimabukuro in the Matsuyama final.
Rocha, the top seed in the tournament and ranked 167th globally, overcame Shimabukuro, who holds the 157th ranking, in a three-set match. The final scores were 7-5, 3-6, 6-2.
The decisive victory lasted two hours and one minute. It marks a significant progression for the rising Portuguese talent.
This win follows Rocha’s previous Challenger triumph in Murcia, Spain. He secured that title on March 24, 2024.
En route to the Matsuyama final, Rocha also defeated his compatriot Frederico Silva in the semi-final round.
