Shams Jorjani, the CEO of Arrowhead, the studio behind Helldivers 2, recently addressed these hopes. He took to the game’s official Discord channel to answer a fan’s direct question. The fan wondered if a collaboration with Fortnite might happen in the future. They pointed out that Fortnite has seen themes and gameplay that seem quite similar to Helldivers 2, especially when it comes to fighting insect-like enemies. This made them think of Arrowhead’s game.
Jorjani gave a clear, direct answer to the question. He stated, “Not a priority right now.” However, he quickly added a note of possibility to his reply. He said, “But who knows? Fortnite is cool and quite big.” His words suggest that while it’s not happening immediately, the idea isn’t completely off the table.
This statement is a polite refusal for the present. Yet, it certainly leaves the door open for future partnerships. Helldivers 2 recently teamed up with the legendary first-person shooter, Halo. This shows the developers are open to big collaborations. So, partnering with a gaming giant like Fortnite isn’t out of the question down the line. Still, players should not get their hopes up too much right now.
