Hell of Michael Porter Jr.: could miss another season

Michael Porter Jr., who has already missed two seasons with back problems, may be on the verge of missing a third. The Nuggets forward you are dealing with a nerve problem in your back and may require surgeryAccording to Mike Singer of The Denver Post. The Nuggets have given him a week to see if there is improvement before considering other treatment options.

Porter has been out for two weeks since his problem worsened during a game against the Houston Rockets. Apparently the young star, who has been receiving daily treatment, would have been dealing with said back injury all season, and trying to play compounded the problem.

That was reflected in his stats, as he had been averaging 9.9 points per game in nine games after averaging 19.0 last year. In addition, he was shooting 35.9% from the field (54.2% last year) and 20.8% from long distance shots (44.5% last year).

He has already undergone two major back surgeries in his career. The first knocked him out for most of his college days in Missouri, while the second cost him his rookie year, after the Nuggets drafted him in 2018. The forward, although he had been one of the most valued players and followed by their generation, it fell to 14th place precisely because of the doubts that many franchises had regarding their back problems.

Denver signed Porter to a five-year, $ 172 million contract extension worth up to $ 207 million this season, with the apparent hope that he could form a trio with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray. Now, With Porter having these issues and Murray still out for the count, the Nuggets will have to survive on Jokic..
