Heathrow Airport Resumes Normal Operations After Power Outage

Flights are taking off again at Heathrow Airport in London after a power outage shut it down temporarily. The first flight today left on schedule at 6 am local time. Heathrow, one of the busiest airports in the world, is back to normal.

A statement on the airport’s X platform said, “Flights are operating at Heathrow again after yesterday’s power outage. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

Thomas Woldbye, the airport’s CEO, said last night that Heathrow should be fully operational soon.
The airport was closed all day yesterday due to a widespread power outage caused by a fire.

The fire happened at a substation that supplies power to the airport. For safety, Heathrow had to shut down until 11:59 pm on March 21. Passengers were told not to come to the airport and to contact their airlines for more information. The airport apologized for the trouble. Heathrow is now back in business. Its social media update said flights have resumed after the earlier disruption.
