Health pass: opponents mobilized again, two days after the start of the school year

The weeks go by and look the same. This Saturday, September 4, more than 200 demonstrations are again planned throughout France against the health pass. This is the eighth consecutive weekend of mobilization.

The mobilization will be all the more followed since it takes place only two days after the start of the school year.

A return to school marked, moreover, by the launch of a vaccination campaign open to over 12s. A decision that made cringe among some of the opponents of the health pass.

In the processions, the vaccination of the youngest is indeed fiercely rejected by many demonstrators, who parade under signs stamped “Do not touch my children”. On September 30, the health pass should also become compulsory for 12-17 year olds during school trips.

Between 130,000 and 170,000 people expected

Today, the authorities are expecting “between 130,000 and 170,000” demonstrators, including “17,000 to 27,000” people in Paris, according to a police source.

Mobilization has weakened in recent weeks, with 160,000 demonstrators recorded last Saturday by the Ministry of the Interior, against 175,000 the previous week and 215,000 seven days earlier.

The militant collective Le Nombre Jaune, which publishes a city-by-city count, had for its part counted 323,294 “minimum” demonstrators last Saturday, against 361,818 the previous week.

In Paris, the number of demonstrators could increase compared to last week, according to the police who evoke a “probable effect of the return of many vacationers”.

Florian Philippot, leader of the Patriots and former number 2 of the National Front, hopes to relaunch the mobilization in favor of a “historic procession”, he who calls on Twitter “all of France” to go to Paris.

These demonstrations take place while 67% of French people approve the introduction of the health pass, according to an Odoxa-Backbone Consulting poll for Le Figaro published on Friday.

For its part, the executive is pleased with the “success” of its vaccination campaign, relaunched in July by the introduction of the health pass. France should cross the threshold of 50 million first-time vaccines in mid-September.
