Health pass: how long will it be in place?

Validated in broad terms by the Constitutional Council, the health pass must come into effect this Monday, August 9, in its extended form.

Restaurants, trains, hospitals, shopping centers … A QR code, to justify a complete vaccination, a negative test of less than 72 hours or a positive test of more than 11 days and less than six months, will therefore be necessary to enter most public places.

This device, intended in particular to speed up vaccination, should “prevent us from other curfews and confinements,” Health Minister Olivier Véran said yesterday in Le Parisien. Mais il est dénoncé pair of French names, who encore more than 200,000 to manifest the opposition of the samedi, even that for certain political parties, who and voient notamment join the freedom of circulation and the one des prémices d’une «société of control”.

The long-term installation of this health pass is, in particular, at the center of the debates. At the moment, according to the new version of the law on the management of the health crisis, published this Friday, August 6 in the Official Gazette, the device can be imposed by the government “until November 15, 2021 inclusive.”

It remains to be seen if the health pass will continue to be used after this date, or if the evolution of vaccination is sufficient to limit the spread of the coronavirus epidemic. Without convincing results, the government might consider taking a new step, for example, by making vaccination mandatory for all.
