He was eager for the country, returned in the coffin

The body of Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooq, a popular hero of Bengali films, freedom fighter and Member of Parliament for Dhaka-17 Constituency, has arrived in Dhaka. His body arrived in Dhaka on a special flight from Singapore on Tuesday (May 16) morning.

The US-Bangla flight BS-308 from Singapore landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at 7:50 am with the body of Nayak Farooq. The flight took off at 5:40 am Singapore local time and started its journey to Dhaka.

Actor Farooq was undergoing treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore for a long time. He was receiving treatment in this hospital for about eight years. He last went to Singapore for a regular health check-up in early March 2021. At that time, he was diagnosed with a blood infection. Since then he was feeling physically ill. Later, he was admitted to the hospital on the doctor’s advice.

After a few days of hospitalization, he was also diagnosed with a brain infection. He was being treated there. But in the end, all treatments failed and he breathed his last on Monday (May 15) at 10am Singapore local time.

Actor and Member of Parliament Akbar Hossain Pathan Farooq was supposed to return to the country in February. He was undergoing treatment at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital for two years. But his mind was in Bangladesh. He was eager to return home. Farooq’s wife Farhana Pathan said last January, ‘Farooq is eager to come to the country. There are many activities in the parliamentary area. He said he will return to the country and solve the problems.

Actor and Member of Parliament for Dhaka-17 Constituency Farooq went to Singapore for a regular check-up on March 4, 2021. There, his condition deteriorated and he was admitted to Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He was suffering from high blood pressure, brain and nervous system problems. There were also some old physical complications.

Farooq was born on August 18, 1948. He made his film debut in Dhaka in 1971 by acting in the film ‘Jalchhabi’ directed by H Akbar. Kabri was the heroine opposite him in the first movie. After that, in 1973, he acted in supporting roles in the Liberation War-based film ‘Abar Tora Manhoo Ha’ directed by Khan Ataur Rahman and in 1974 Narayan Ghosh Mita’s ‘Alor Michil’.

He won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1975 for his performance. In 2016, he was awarded a lifetime award.

Notable movies she has acted in include ‘Sareng Bau’, ‘Lathiyal’, ‘Sujan Sakhi’, ‘Nayanmani’, ‘Miya Bhai’, ‘Golapi Nach Trene’, ‘Saheb’, ‘Alor Michili’, ‘Din Jai Katha Phai’. etc. After the success of the film ‘Miya Bhai’, he became famous as ‘Miya Bhai’ in the film industry.
