Indian media echo the terrible story of a 25-year-old young man who, on the verge of having sex with his partner, died suddenly after using epoxy resin, a variety of glue known for its high covering power, instead of a condom. An investigation has been opened.
As explained by one of the police officers in charge of the case, quoted in particular by the newspaper Times of India, the couple in question used this adhesive “in order to prevent pregnancy.” The tragedy occurred on June 22 at a hotel in Juhapura, a town on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, the main city in the state of Gujarat, in northwest India, but was not revealed by local media than in recent days.
According to the elements of the investigation, the man, named Mirza, and the woman, whose identity has not been revealed, are both drug addicts. They were in a daze at the time of the incident, which is why they would not have realized how dangerous what they were doing was. Another reason that could explain the passage to the act: the couple had no protection or traditional contraceptive means, which could have encouraged them to use the means at hand.
According to the local medial News18, in addition to covering his penis with glue, the victim and his partner would also have mixed the epoxy with another whitening substance in order to inhale it to get drunk. The couple’s entourage would also have confirmed to investigators that they used to be intoxicated, so all the more so that they were at the time of the fatal affair.
Ahmedabad: Using adhesive instead of condom killed youth?
The officer said that using the adhesive worsened Mirza’s health condition and he died of complications including multiple organ failure.

The family requested a counter-investigation
It was a friend of the man who discovered him unconscious the next day. Then, as his condition deteriorated rapidly, he took him to the nearest hospital where the victim died “from serial failures of several organs,” police said. On the other hand, the Indian media do not communicate any information about the state of health of her partner who, for her part, is still alive.
Although we do not know Mirza’s age, we do know that he was the son of an elderly couple and that he had two sisters. He was known to be the sole “breadwinner” of his family, Indian media write. His relatives do not trust the police and have filed a complaint to demand a counter-investigation into his death. They think in particular that it is the partner of Mirza who would have had the idea that it is covered with glue.
A police spokesperson said “visceral samples from the deceased are being analyzed” for precisely this purpose. A report will follow and pending investigations continue.
