‘He didn’t burn the doors of the national team…’, Ashwin’s great statement about not selecting Sarfaraz

There has been an ongoing debate for some time over Sarfaraz Khan’s non-selection in the Indian Test squad. Many former cricketers have said that this player was a wrong call for not being selected in the Indian Test squad against Australia. Now, veteran Team India spinner R Ashwin has spoken out on this matter. He clearly didn’t talk about the selection of Sarfaraz Khan, but while he fiercely praised this Mumbai batsman, he mimicked the selectors’ decision.

R Ashwin said on his YouTube channel: ‘Where do I start with this batsman (Sarfaraz Khan)? There has been a lot of discussion about whether or not this player should have been drafted. But let me tell you, this hitter doesn’t care about his selection. Sarfaraz scored more than 900 runs in the 2019-20 season and then in the 2020-21 season he also scored more than 900 runs.

R Ashwin said: ‘This season he has also scored close to 600 runs. He has given a strong response with his performance. His batting average has been over 100 over the past three seasons. The strike rate has also been good. Sarfaraz Khan is not only breaking down the doors of the national team, he is also burning them down. Unfortunately, he cannot be selected. Despite going unselected, he played a brilliant tackle against Delhi.

Sarfaraz Khan has so far scored runs in 54 innings of 37 matches in first-class cricket at a batting average of 79.65. He has already scored 3,505 runs in his short first-class career. These include 13 centuries and 9 half centuries. He has also scored a triple century once. For the past three seasons, his bat has been on fire. Despite this, this player has not been able to find a place in the test team so far. After the tour of Bangladesh, this player was not selected even against Australia.
