The news came by surprise a few weeks ago. The streaming platform that debuted here as HBO Portugal has been known to us for some time as HBO Max. But soon it will be called simply Max in our country. The change begins today in the United States.
This Warner Bros. Discovery platform comes with HBO shows, Max Originals, WB movies, DC universe, food, home and documentaries. At launch, Max offers users an ad-free premium plan.
Ad-free Max is coming to the US for $19.99/month
This will allow four users to simultaneously view up to 100 downloads and 8 times more 4K episodes and movies than HBO Max. These include Game of Thrones, The Last of Us, Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Dark Knight trilogy, and The Matrix movies.
This service will be available in the United States for a price of $19.99 per month, or $199.99 per year. A price that makes us ‘shudder’ when thinking about what it will be like when it arrives in Portugal.
In a statement, the platform states that current HBO Max subscribers will have access to the features of their current plan for a minimum period of 6 months after launch. In addition, certain content and devices will be compatible with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision.
This update begins today in the United States, where a large portion of users will see their app update automatically. Users will have all their content and favorites waiting on Max.
Max replaces HBO Max in Portugal from 2024
As a reminder, this announcement was originally made on April 12. At the time, HBO Max Portugal published on social networks that Max will arrive in Portugal in 2024. It remains to be seen in what forms and prices.
