The Indian women’s cricket team is currently participating in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, having won two consecutive matches and moving towards the semi-finals. The team will face Nepal in its third match today. The Indian team is considered a strong contender to win this year’s Asia Cup, with a strong lineup.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Shefali Verma Benefit in ICC T20 Rankings

Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, Shefali Verma, and Richa Ghosh have benefited in the ICC T20 rankings. The ongoing Asia Cup 2024 in Sri Lanka has brought significant changes to the T20 rankings. India has registered big wins over Pakistan and UAE, with captain Harmanpreet and opener Shefali close to making it to the top 10 in the T20 batting rankings. Both are now jointly ranked 11th. Shefali Verma has jumped four places after her 40-run innings against Pakistan, while Harmanpreet Kaur has benefited from her 66-run innings against UAE. Richa Ghosh has moved from 28th to 24th position after her unbeaten 64 off 29 balls against UAE.

Renuka Singh Also Benefits in Bowlers’ Ranking

In the bowlers’ ranking, India’s fast bowler Renuka Singh has taken two wickets for 14 runs against Pakistan, moving from 10th to ninth position. Deepti Sharma has retained her third position in the all-rounder and bowling rankings in T20, while Smriti Mandhana remains at fifth position despite scoring a brilliant 45 runs against Pakistan. She is only five points behind fourth-placed Laura Wolvaardt and has a chance to move ahead in the rankings with better performance in the remaining matches of the Asia Cup.
