Carlos Rodríguez suffered a severe fall in the first part of the 20th stage, with only 33 km traveled. The one from Ineos, who on this day is fully involved in the fight for the podium, went to the ground in a left-hand curve. He wasn’t the only one, as Sepp Kuss, ninth overall and leading domestique of leader Vingegaard, also crashed. Both, with blood and numerous injuries, had to be treated. Carlos suffered a blow to the side of the face that caused bleeding that had to be stopped by the medical car, as well as abrasions on the leg and the side of the body.
Until now, beyond an anecdotal fall after running into a person once one of the stages of this Tour was over, Carlos was coming out of mishaps… something that finally could not avoid. In La Vuelta 2022, on the way to Piornal, he also suffered a severe blow that did not allow him to fight for higher places in the general, finishing in seventh position. In the Tour he is fourth, one day from arriving in Paris. He was able to return to the peloton helped by members of his team, especially Omar Fraile.
