Harbhajan Singh: India Will Learn Much Even If They Don’t Win in England

The stage is set for a thrilling showdown between India and England in a five-match Test series, kicking off on June 20. The Indian team has already landed in England, gearing up for the battle ahead. Ahead of the series, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh shared his thoughts on the team’s chances, saying that even if they don’t emerge victorious, they’ll still gain invaluable experience.

In a recent interview, Harbhajan was asked about the challenges facing Shubman Gill, who’s leading a team lacking experienced players. Harbhajan replied, “Tours of England, South Africa, and Australia are always tough. Gill is a young captain, and his team is also relatively inexperienced. With Rohit Sharma not around, the lack of experience will be felt, as this isn’t an easy tour.”

Harbhajan cautioned against judging the team hastily, saying, “If they don’t win, we shouldn’t be too quick to criticize them. There’s a tendency to praise them when they win and tear them down when they lose.” He believes that if the team wins, it’ll be a bonus, but even if they don’t, they’ll still learn a lot from the experience.

The Indian team has arrived in England, ready to take on the hosts in the five-match series. The first Test starts on June 20 at Headingley, followed by the second Test at Birmingham on July 2. The third Test will be played at Lord’s on July 10, the fourth at Manchester on July 23, and the final Test at The Oval on July 31.

Series Schedule:

  • First Test: June 20, Headingley
  • Second Test: July 2, Birmingham
  • Third Test: July 10, Lord’s
  • Fourth Test: July 23, Manchester
  • Fifth Test: July 31, The Oval

As the series approaches, all eyes will be on the young Indian team, led by Shubman Gill, as they take on the challenges of English cricket. Will they rise to the occasion, or will the lack of experience hinder their progress? Only time will tell.
