Haney retains his crown against Loma

The MGM Grand in Las Vegas hosted an impressive match. Devin Haney (30-0-0, 15 KO) retained his undisputed lightweight title against Vasyl Lomachenko (17-3-0, 11 KO) by winning a close unanimous decision. The judges ruled victory for the champion, but Loma left everything in the ring and was adding round by round, giving his best image and showing that he had what it takes to take the belts. The Ukrainian, without a doubt, deserved much more than that result.

Both went out for all from the start of the fight. Loma was fast with the center of the ring in the early rounds, keeping pace and distance with the jab. Haney responded, mostly by looking for the body, and also reaching out with his hands. The Ukrainian took over ring controland put the champion several times against the ropes. Haney shifted up a gear to catch his opponent, who was showing her face. He punished Loma’s body with hooks, but the Ukrainian fit them well. They traded blows constantly, hands kept reaching to either side.

The combat was closed and difficult to score. The rounds were very close and Haney and Loma connected with good hands. For the judges, the stellar performance of the Ukrainian was not enough, who scored the best shots and hit the table. He deserved so much more. He thus shows that he has recovered from everything and is at the level of the best. Haney retains his titles, but the public turned to Loma. They booed him and practically did not let him carry out the interview after the crash. A fight that invites revenge.
