Disturbing Evidence of Human Rights Abuses in Gaza Prison
Recent footage obtained by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) from the Al Katiba detention center in Gaza has shed light on the inhumane treatment of inmates at the hands of Hamas security personnel.
Shocking Videos Reveal Brutal Conditions
Analysis of the videos by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) has revealed prison guards subjecting prisoners to violent attacks and confining them in precarious conditions. One such video, recorded in 2023, shows a prisoner being violently thrown down a flight of stairs and then forcibly dragged to a cell.
Prisoners Held in Inhumane Conditions
Another video shows a prisoner spending an entire day lying on the floor of a cell that is barely large enough to accommodate him. The footage, captured by surveillance cameras at Hamas’ Al-Katiba prison in Gaza City, has been identified as featuring two Hamas internal security agency members, Mohammed Mohammed Shaaban Shubaki and Mahmoud Saber Mahmoud Abd Al-Al.
The IDF has condemned the brutal conditions, stating that the videos demonstrate a clear violation of the prisoners’ basic human rights. The Israeli military has also highlighted the similarities between Hamas’ treatment of prisoners and the atrocities committed by the Assad regime.
The IDF Arabic spokesperson has emphasized that the newly released videos, combined with previous revelations of torture during Hamas interrogations, leave no doubt about the brutality of Hamas’ actions.
