Haley accuses DeSantis of being an “echo” of Trump

Miami, (BLAZETRENDS).- Nikki Haley, so far the only woman in the race for the Republican presidential nomination in 2024, affirmed that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who is expected to announce his candidacy this Wednesday, is only “a echo” of former President Donald Trump, whom he literally copies, even in gestures.

Haley, a former US ambassador to the UN and former governor of South Carolina, posted a campaign video titled “A Choice, Not an Echo,” in which she portrays herself as a true alternative to Trump, not someone who follows Trump. his steps and dictates, as he says DeSantis does.

“America deserves a choice, not an echo,” Haley says in her video, which shows footage of Trump and DeSantos rallies in which they are seen making the same hand movements to reinforce their claims.

The video begins with a quote from Trump in which he says of DeSantis “whatever I want, he wants it” and continues with footage of the Florida governor in 2018 teaching him to say “Make America Great Again.” again), the motto of the former president in his 2016 campaign.

DeSantis is expected to publicly announce his candidacy alongside businessman Elon Musk in a Twitter chat later this afternoon.

The governor, who reached that position with the help of Trump, is the second best placed in the polls for voting intentions in the primaries, but the former president is more than 30 points ahead of him (367.9 according to the latest average of polls from Real Clear Politcs).

Haley’s video, which appears in third place, highlights controversial remarks by DeSantis in which he referred to the war in Ukraine as “a territorial dispute” that is not a “vital national” interest to the United States.

He also refers to a memo that described DeSantis as “Trump without drama” and changes it to “Trump without charm.”

Haley launched his campaign in February, while Trump did so in November, ahead of all his potential rivals.

So far three other candidates have filed for the Republican primary: former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy and African-American Senator Tim Scott.

DeSantis will be the sixth if his candidacy is confirmed, which the Trump campaign asked him on Tuesday not to specify “for the good of the Republican Party and the Nation.”
