Haitian merchants grant an extension after the blockade of the Carrizal border crossing in Comendador.

The commercial problems between Haiti and the Dominican Republic continue through this border crossing of Carrizal where yesterday morning Haitian merchants blocked the passage, demanding that Dominican merchants return the money that many have received for the purchase of wheat flour.

Supposedly the Haitian merchants were not duly informed by the Dominicans that there was a temporary ban on the export of wheat flour to Haiti by the Dominican government,

They explained that they found out when their trucks were stopped and prevented from leaving their territory by members of the Specialized Corps for Border Security (Cesfront) and customs agents, who informed them that said product was prohibited from exporting until second order.

The Haitian merchants at the time of blocking the border crossing demanded that the Dominican authorities find a solution so that the retained trucks were returned, also that the merchants return the money in full, since these products were legally purchased without knowing that they were its export is prohibited.

Dialogue
In the afternoon, the Haitian merchants held a dialogue and made the decision to give an extension until Monday the 19th of this month, deciding to unblock the border crossing to allow the exit and entry of the vehicles that were on both sides.

According to the merchants, they only hope that a way out of this situation will be sought and if they do not do so, they will once again block the passage for a defined time and will not allow the entry or exit of Dominican vehicles that carry various merchandise to Haitian territory, nor to passenger buses.
