Haaland comments on Lewis-Skelly celebration mimicry, shows fair play.

Myles Lewis-Skelly celebrates the goal scored against Manchester City in February

Football is a game of skill, passion, and sometimes, a bit of cheeky banter. Remember that wild 5-1 Manchester City win over Arsenal back in February? It wasn’t just the goals that got people talking. A young Arsenal defender, Myles Lewis-Skelly, found himself in a memorable moment with City’s goal machine, Erling Haaland. Now, Haaland has finally shared his thoughts on that whole incident.

Lewis-Skelly, who is just 18 years old, scored for Arsenal in the 62nd minute of that February match. After his goal, he did something special: he sat down and struck a meditation pose. This was no random celebration. Many saw it as a direct reply to Erling Haaland. You see, after an earlier run-in, the 25-year-old Norwegian star had famously asked Lewis-Skelly, “Who are you?” That kind of exchange sticks in your mind.

But Haaland, known for his on-field focus, showed a surprisingly calm side when asked about it recently. “If he wanted to make fun of me, that’s fine. They won the game… They got me,” Haaland said with a nod. He added, “If he wanted to use that moment to make fun of me, that’s fair. He can do whatever he wants.” It seems the superstar had already moved on. He even admitted, “I didn’t even remember until you asked.” Talk about water under the bridge!

The conversation then shifted from past banter to future ambitions. Haaland opened up about his last season, saying it “wasn’t good enough.” But he’s not dwelling on it. He emphasized the beauty of football: there’s always a new challenge ahead. “I can’t keep thinking about the last season. But that’s the best part of football. There’s always something new coming. You have to think about what’s next and live in the present,” he explained, already looking ahead to the 2025/2026 season.
