Gyökeres Recalls Stressful Arsenal Transfer, Ballon d’Or Nod

Gyökeres in action for Arsenal

The transfer market often creates its own dramas, and Viktor Gyökeres’s move to Arsenal was certainly one of them. Leaving Sporting for the Premier League giants was a long, uncertain journey for the Swedish striker. He recently shared his feelings about that stressful period during an interview with Sky Sports.

“Waiting for the change was tough,” Gyökeres explained. “You’re living in limbo, not knowing what’s next. There was a point where it felt like the move would never happen.” This transfer represented a massive step for him. He always dreamed of playing for the best teams in the biggest leagues. That dream is why he stands where he is today. He believes strongly that you must trust yourself, even when things get difficult. He called his time at Arsenal so far “a great experience,” praising the “fantastic” people he’s met at the club.

His passion for football began very early. Gyökeres remembered his father, a player himself, though not at a high level. Young Viktor first kicked a ball at school. His parents then took him to organized training. He admitted he didn’t like it much at first, but soon grew to love it. His father even became a coach there, creating many cherished memories. Yet, even as a boy in Sweden, he faced criticism. He recalled some district games where he didn’t play well. People told him he lacked the mindset to succeed in football. That feedback stuck with him.

“You have to believe in yourself and keep pushing, no matter what happens,” he declared. He doesn’t think anyone has to accept what others say. He tunes out negative voices and focuses on maintaining good energy. Reading every comment or article isn’t his priority. Instead, Gyökeres concentrates on what he controls: training, playing, and preparing for the next match. He takes care of his body and also makes sure to switch off and relax.

His unique mask celebration has also become famous. He even joked, “I started scoring more goals since I started doing it.” Seeing his name on the list for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award left him truly stunned. “It’s crazy to be on that list,” he said. He feels proud, but he understands that with a new season comes new goals. He knows he has to keep working hard and improve even more.

Later today, Arsenal is set to face Manchester City at 4:30 PM. Gyökeres aims to find the net again, adding to his three Premier League goals so far. “England has many top teams,” he noted. “We must play well against the best. These are the games we truly want to win.” His journey, marked by self-belief and sheer determination, continues to unfold on football’s grandest stage.
