Gurbaj breaks Dhoni’s 18-year record with a special performance against Pakistan

The second ODI game between Pakistan and Afghanistan was very exciting. In this game both teams showed great play but in the end Pakistan won the game by one wicket. The Afghan team put up a great batting performance in this game. The Afghan team batted first and scored 300 points in 50 overs. The record-breaking innings of 151 runs by 21-year-old young wicket-keeper-batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaj played a major part in that.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz has also broken the record of three veteran players due to his innings. With 5 ODI centuries by the age of 21, Gurbaz is the player to score more centuries than Sachin Tendulkar at that age. In this list, Quinton de Kock of South Africa and Upul Tharanga of Sri Lanka top the list with 6-6 centuries.

With his innings of 151 runs, Rahmanullah Gurbaz became the first player from Afghanistan to score a century against Pakistan. Additionally, as a wicket-keeper-batsman, Gurbaz also shattered Dhoni’s record. In 2005, Dhoni netted an inning of 148 runs against Pakistan, which was the highest innings of any wicketkeeper against Pakistan in ODIs. Now Gurbaj has taken that record on his behalf.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz only played 23 innings to complete his 5 centuries in ODIs. In this case, the current captain of the Pakistan team, Babar Azam, had played 25 innings. The record for fastest 5 centuries in the ODI format goes back to Quinton de Kock and Imam-ul-Haq, who accomplished the feat in just 19-19 innings.
