This film featured late actor Irrfan Khan. Recalling that time, Guneet revealed that she had no money at all before the film’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

Guneet had said, “We made The Lunchbox honestly, when the film went to the Cannes Film Festival I was very excited. But we didn’t have money to go to Cannes. Even Irrfan sir. At that time we were actually very nervous about booking the room. Then our sales representative suddenly had another big movie. His actress refused to come to Cannes and we got her luxury room for free and gave it to Irrfan sir.”

Karan Johar, who was present there with Guneet, also recalled those days and said, “I had dinner at the Cannes Film Festival that day. Then a bubbly young girl came to me and said that she had produced Anurag Kashyap’s chapter ‘Murabba’ in ‘Bombay Talkies’. But I’m here to tell you that The Lunchbox was also created by me. That’s why I want you to watch this beautiful film. Then the first thing that came to mind was “Lunchbox…?”
