Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his first home run off Shohei Ohtani, George Springer led off the game with a home run and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Los Angeles Angels 6-3 on Thursday.
Ohtani (3-3) took the loss after striking out 10 over six innings in which he allowed five runs in his eighth start of the season.
Bo Bichette had a two-run double and Santiago Espinal stacked an RBI single in the third inning for Toronto in Game 1 of a four-game series against Oakland. Danny Jansen hit his third homer in two games in the ninth.
Hyun Jin Ryu (2-0) earned the win with a five-plus-inning outing in which he allowed six hits and two runs while retiring Mike Trout three times.
