Guarino throws Spain on his back in the European

The Espoo Metro Areena in Finland will host the 2023 European Figure Skating Championships from this Wednesday (it will be possible to follow here or in Eurosport), andin which Spain will have the participation of Tomas Guarino in men’s singles, which will be his second experience in the international event.

The men’s draw will host a total of 29 skaters, of which the 24 with the best score after the short program will advance to the final, which will be held tomorrow from 4:40 p.m. Spanish time (after the draw for the starting order, Tomàs will skate at 6:59 p.m.). For Guarino, this European Championship is an opportunity to demonstrate his growth compared to his debut in the competition in 2022, where he qualified for the final and finished 22nd with a total of 178’67 points.

In the current season, the 23-year-old skater has already far exceeded those marks, leaving his best personal records at an international level in the 216’05 points he reached in the IceChallenge last November. To prepare for the 2023 European Championships, Guarino has focused on working on the entire short program, due to its status as a qualifier for the final, and in elements that he considers more difficult, such as triple axel or the combinations in the final parts of the program.
