Txiki Begiristain, who held the role for 13 years, couldn’t have been more complimentary. “He’s a good guy, and very calm too,” Txiki shared. “I can just picture this young, energetic director coming in. Ferran Soriano, the club’s Executive Director, focused on how well Viana has fit in. Soriano felt like the club found someone just like Txiki all over again. “His integration with the group has been perfect,” Soriano explained. “He’s truly one of us. I think that’s the ideal outcome.” Soriano then pushed for more detail, asking about Viana’s specific traits. “Is he decisive? Yes. Does he get along with people? Yes. Is he calm? Extremely calm. So, maybe we have found the new Txiki. He absolutely has to be like Txiki.”
Pep Guardiola, never one to mince words, chimed in with his short but powerful endorsement. “And he has that something extra,” Guardiola added, sealing the deal on the positive reviews. It seems the new man in charge is already making a strong impression, ready to build on the club’s success.
