Pep Guardiola has declared Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva among the best players he has ever coached, praising his invaluable contributions despite uncertainty surrounding the Portuguese star’s long-term future at the club.
The Manchester City manager described Silva as “top” and “one of the best,” highlighting his all-around capabilities.
Guardiola emphasized that Silva’s impact extends beyond traditional statistics like goals and assists. “He doesn’t score many goals or make all the assists. He never did that,” Guardiola told reporters.
“But he gives us things that don’t appear in the statistics and are incredibly valuable to us. He is undoubtedly one of the best players I have ever coached.”
These strong endorsements come as questions persist about Silva’s continued tenure at the Premier League club.
Silva’s current contract is set to expire on June 30, 2026. This means he will become eligible to sign a pre-contract with another team as early as December 31, 2024.
Guardiola has managed numerous world-class talents throughout his career, including Lionel Messi, Xavi, and Andres Iniesta at Barcelona, and Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery at Bayern Munich.
