The generation update that Rockstar announced for GTA V in 2020 will not arrive later this year, as planned.
During Sony’s PlayStation Showcase event, Rockstar showcased a trailer for the enhanced and expanded version of the game for next-gen consoles, and revealed that the new launch window will be in March 2022.
“Although we are very excited to bring GTA V to the next generation of consoles, the game requires a few additional months to polish and tweak”says the study on the sudden delay.
“We look forward to sharing more details about these expanded and enhanced versions soon, including the new standalone version of GTA Online, which will also hit PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X | S in March.”
Although details are still sparse, the update involves graphical improvements as well as much faster loading times thanks to the new consoles’ SSDs.
As previously announced, thanks to the collaboration between Sony and Rockstar, PlayStation Plus members will earn €1 million from GTA every month until the next-gen version is released next year. In addition, the next standalone version of GTA Online will be free to PlayStation 5 owners for the first three months after its release.
