The first GTA 6 trailer is now available. Rockstar Games originally wanted to release the trailer on Tuesday at 3 p.m. German time. Due to leaks, the development studio decided to put the trailer online on Tuesday night at 1 a.m. German time.
The trailer is titled “Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1” and has already been viewed over 47 million times on YouTube. The song “Love Is A Long Road” by Tom Petty from 1989 plays in the background.
There is a small dampener in the joy surrounding the first trailer: it reveals that the game will not be released until 2025. When exactly remains a mystery.
Also for which platforms the game will be available at launch. However, Take-Two’s press release for the trailer explains that the game will be released for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. This makes it seem unlikely that GTA 6 will be released for the PC at the same time. Like other Rockstar games in the past (such as GTA 5 or Red Dead Redemption 2), the PC version will probably follow at a later date.
The most important (some new) findings from the trailer summarized:
- There will be a female main character, but she has a male partner. It remains to be seen whether both characters will be playable. In a short scene, the couple can be seen during a robbery, which is reminiscent of the game mechanics of the robberies in GTA 5.
- GTA 6 will offer even more realistic graphics than its predecessor. However, it is not clear from the trailer whether in-game graphics can actually be seen in all scenes.
- Vice City is confirmed as a location, but there are also other locations in the Florida setting. The state is named “Leonida” in the game and is described in the press release as follows: “Grand Theft Auto VI takes you to the state of Leonida, home to the neon-soaked streets of Vice City and beyond, and is the largest and most intense evolution yet the Grand Theft Auto series.”
- Things are pretty wicked in the state of Leonida and gang crime seems to play an important role in the story of GTA 6.
- The release of GTA 6 is not planned until 2025. In spring, summer, autumn or winter 2025? That remains open.
