Apparently the date from which you can pre-order Grand Theft Auto 6 has been leaked, as you can read here on Reddit, among other places. However, the basis for this rumor is extremely thin and cannot be verified: According to the gaming news site Gamerficial, a conversation between the British retailer Argos and a GTA 6 fan shows that pre-orders for GTA 6 will open on December 12, 2023 could begin.
The retailer is said to have replied: “I was informed that the Grand Theft Auto VI software for the Xbox Series X|S and Playstation 5 will be available for pre-order on December 12, 2023, which was confirmed to us by the retailers.” Here on Reddit there is a screenshot of the alleged chat between a GTA 6 fan and the retailer Argos.
December 12, 2023 would be a few days after the presumed release date of the first trailer for GTA 6 on December 7, 2023. If the latter date applies, the pre-order date could in principle be correct. The actual game probably won’t be released until October 2024.
However, there are considerable doubts about the accuracy of this date. Rockstar Universe, a website about all Rockstar games, called the retailer’s hotline and then described this rumor as false.
Curious: While fans are already discussing the pre-order date, it is not even sure when exactly the first trailer for the new game hit will appear. Officially, Rockstar Games (the publisher of GTA 6) has only announced that the first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released in early December 2023. Afterwards, the rumor made the rounds that the first GTA 6 trailer would be shown on December 7, 2023 at the gaming industry event The Game Awards. But then another candidate entered the race: the third of December. You can read more about this in Grand Theft Auto 6: The first GTA 6 teaser should come 4 days earlier.
