Grand Theft Auto 6 VI (GTA 6) from Rockstar Games is likely to be the game of superlatives. Because GTA 6 will not only cost an incredible amount – there is talk of 150 US dollars, almost 140 euros – but according to rumors it will also set a new record for download size. As the Gamerficial website, which specializes in gaming topics, reports, the game will take up an incredible 750 GB of storage space on the target platform. At least that’s what a leak says here can be read on X/Twitter:
If this rumor is true, GTA 6 would be the biggest game download of all time. For comparison: Starfield from Bethesda has 125 GB on Steam and Red Dead Redemption 2 from Rockstar Games has 150 GB. The current frontrunner seems to be “Even Ark: Survival Evolved” with an also impressive 400 GB (including the most important expansions). For the also voluminous Microsoft Flight Simulator, players have to provide around 190 GB of storage space.
However, the enormous size of the download and the storage space required is doubted among gamers. Simply because neither the PS5 nor the Xbox Series X have enough storage space by default. All players would therefore have to purchase storage space extensions.
Supposedly 400 hours of gameplay
Information has also appeared in the rumor mill about how long you should be busy with the game. According to the leak, which is said to come from an insider at Rockstar Games, gameplay should last around 400 hours.
GTA 6: This is what we know so far
At the moment it is not even clear when GTA 6 will appear and whether it will be available at launch for all relevant platforms such as Sony Playstation 5, Microsoft Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC. However, a release for the previous console generations Playstation 4 and Xbox One is very unlikely. The only thing that seems certain is that publication should take place in the 2024/2025 financial year. The 2024/2025 financial year runs from April 2024 to March 2025.
