Growth projections increase between 5 and 5.5%, according to the MEPYD

The Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development reported that the growth projections have been reviewed rising by 2022due to the good performance of economic activity in recent months.

In this sense, it is projected expansion in real terms of Gross domestic product (GDP) between 5.0% and 5.5%, with a punctual value of 5.3% in 2022 which is in line with potential growth.

“These more optimistic perspectives are based on a strong recovery of the tourism sector, which has registered unprecedented passenger flows during the year; as well as a notable incidence of other service activities”, specifies the Ministry of Economy in the Macroeconomic Panorama 2022-2026 report.

The revision of the document constitutes an effort by the teams of the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development, the Central Bank of the Dominican Republic and the Ministry of Finance, to provide decision makers with updated projections for medium-term economic planning.
