Group of 31 Dominicans sign up for free agency

Albert Pujols, José Ramírez and Nelson Cruz lead the group of 31 Dominican players on the list of free agents in Major League Baseball.

Pujols fulfilled his contract after being released by the Los Angeles Angels and rescued, after going through the waiver process, by the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The future member of the Hall of Fame has made it clear, after his debut with the Leones del Escogido in the winter baseball tournament, that he has no intention of leaving the sport of which he has been one of the best hitters in life.

Ramírez, considered one of the most prominent third basemen in the Major Leagues, has ended his contract with the Cleveland Indians, but they have a couple of options for the 2022 ($ 11 million) and 2023 ($ 13 million) seasons so that the first of it is expected to be exercised.

Cruz, recently awarded the Roberto Clemente Award for his humanitarian work, is a 449 home run producer who finished off the Tampa Bay Rays after being traded by the Minnesota Twins.

The list is completed by the squad players Danny Santana, José Marmolejos, Leury García, Jonathan Villar, Hanser Alberto, Maikel Franco and Starlin Castro. Gardeners Starling Marte, Juan Lagares and Gregory Polanco are also included.

Pitchers include Michael Pineda, Johnny Cueto (club option), Wily Peralta, José Ureña, Carlos Martínez (club option), Ervin Santana, Iván Nova, Héctor Neris and Joely Rodríguez.

Other free-agent Creole pitchers are Yimi García, Alex Colomé (mutual option), Rafael Dolis, Fernando Abad, Hansel Robles, Dellin Betances, Pedro Strop, Dany Jiménez and Jeurys Familia.
